Taylor Swift Tickets – Awesome?

I’ve got my back against the wall. My daughter has become enamored of Taylor swift. Currently learning to play guitar, I am constantly listening to broken pieces of Taylor Swift songs interlaced with sporadic attempts at Green Day and Aerosmith. I like the idea of her playing guitar. I have no musical talent at all and it’s nice to see someone in the family with enough drive and dedication to learn to play. She’s also got a pretty good ear, according to her guitar teacher. recently, I laid out the money for Taylor swift tickets, paid for a trip to Arkansas for the concert, and got hugs for it. Now, we’ve just found out that Taylor Swift will be in Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, and naturally DAD is the guy financing the whole trip. Bless the guys at Frontrow.com who help me out with this stuff.

Packers Tickets – Facing the Favre

If you haven’t seen the hoopla surrounding Brett Favre you must be dead. I was certain that the New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons game would be the NFL tickets of the week. But I might be wrong. It seems I’ve been taken top task by some readers for not thinking that this Packers vs Vikings game would be the biggest game of the week. And they may be right.

It’s been a long time coming but Brett Favre returns to Lambeau Field this weekend to face the Green Bay Packers as the quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings. I think it would have been nice to see Favre return undefeated but the Pittsburgh Steelers denied us that. The feelings around Green Bay vary about Favre. Some fans will always love him. he did give the city a Super Bowl win. Others want to rip him limb from limb in retribution for what they see as his betrayal. Either way his reception is going to be huge. One way or another. and all Packers fans are united in wanting to send him home a loser.

NBA Tickets – The Ride Begins

It’s been a long time coming but NBA tickets are back in full swing. As usual the NBA season is full of questions, many of which won’t be answered until the final bell. Of course, the LA Lakers are a prime time team again but maybe the Denver Nuggets can find a way to topple them. Can the New Orleans Hornets overcome their late season lag and challenge again? How will the Houston Rockets fare in 2009 without their big man? My biggest question is whether the Boston Celtics will fade away or whether the franchise is set for the long term. With the NBA the way it is today, big names seem to shuffle through the league like cattle.  Patience friends, the answers will be found as the season progresses. Good luck with your favs.

NFL Tickets – A Changing Landscape

I love the NFL. If there’s any ticket out there that can deliver surprises it’s NFL tickets. Each and every year since the advent of “parity” by way of a salary cap, the NFL has given birth to a new team that’s come from nowhere or risen from the ashes of the dumpster. 2009 is no different. The landscape has changed for several teams, some rising, some appearing to fall. Seven weeks into the season I see the winds of change blowing on:

New England Patriots – Where is the dynasty that seemed such a surefire thing when the Patriots went undefeated in the regular season? Since then New England has missed the playoffs and now seems to be a beatable team, having suffered losses to both the New York Jets and Denver Broncos. Maybe the whalloping of the Bucs and Titans will get them back on track. But I don’t think so. I think New England has fallen ever so slightly back into the pack of very good NFL teams.

Denver Broncos – Are the 2009 Denver Broncos an illusion? Are they really this good? It’s hard to argue with 6-0 and wins over the Patriots and Chargers already on the books. Stay tuned. The Broncos collpased last year. But that was when they didn’t have a defense.

Tennessee Titans – From the penthouse to the outhouse. What happened to this team? At 0-6 Jeff Fisher is scrambling for purchase on his job. A housecleaning may be in order. Or, if Vince Young takes over and plays well, he may find salvation. The jury is still out but leaning towards the death penalty.

New York Giants – Maybe losing two games in a row is slanting my view but the New York Giants may have been exposed by the Saints and Cardinals. Just throw the  ball and attack Eli. We’ll know more when New York visits the Philadelphia Eagles this week. A loss would be….unGiantlike.

Chicago Bears – When Jay Cutler came to town Bears fans started a feverish seasrch for Super Bowl tickets. Now Kyle Orton looks good and Cutler looks average at best. Who knew? Not me.

New Orleans Saints – Just when I thought the Saints would begin folding their tents, down 21 points to Miami, they rise up and make me look like a fool. More importantly, the resurrection began with the defense, a unit that may be the most opportunistic outfit in the NFL today.

Vikings and Steelers – My NFL Ticket of the Week

I’m back from a stint in Korea and ready to enjoy NFL football again at it’s normal time. Here’s how we watch football in Korea. At 2 o’clock in the morning you log onto your computer. You begin scanning the net for live NFL streams. Finally, after 10-15 minutes of frantic searching, you find a live stream that gets you your team. In our case it was the New Orleans Saints vs New York Giants. Now you’ve got 5 guys in a hotel room wired on mini-coffees screaming at a computer screen while the rest of the occupants of the motel call down to the front desk trying to get us to shut up.

It’s not quite the same as having NFL tickets but it’ll do in a pinch. So now I’m looking forward to catching my Saints beating up on the Miami Dolphins in Landshark Stadium. Or at least I hope. The Dolphins look like a developing team and they scare me. I don’t want this unbeaten Saints streak to end, although I know it probably will at some point.

Anyway, scanning around the rest of the NFL, I find myself drwan to the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers game. Am I the only one that believes this Vikings-Favre story has to have a bitter end? The whole football world seems to be holding it’s breath, waiting for the fairy tale to turn sour. Maybe Favre still has it in him but I’m seeing some signs of fraying at the edges. Peterson the beast running back is still going to have to carry this team. Based on last season, Favre should be getting weary, and maybe not deliver the magic. Something in my gut tells me the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to put it all together this weekend and hand the Vikings their first loss. Why, I don’t know. Can’t put my finger on it. But there it is.

World Series Tickets – Headed for the Big Apple

OK, OK I’m convinced. After watching C.C. Sabathia completely befuddle the LA Angels yesterday, I now believe that the baseball gods are once again smiling on the New York Yankees. Sabathia made it look easy, giving up a run and four hits in eight innings of work against a team that’s good enough to be playing for a World Series berth. It doesn’t get much better than that. Now you have to ask the question of whether sabathia will be needed again to help eliminate the Angels. Judging by yesterday, probably not. The idea of a well rested Yankees and Sabathia headed to a World Series hould wake up the baseball world. It all seems so inevitable, sp pre-ordained, so….1900’s.

Notre Dame Tickets – Fighting Irish Push Trojans to the Wall

I was oh here last week saying that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish could not beat USC. I was very nearly wrong. In an impressive display, the Irish pushed the Trojans to the limit, falling 34-27. It was a much closer game that I would have given Notre Dame credit for, a feat I did not expect them to accomplish. But is it enough to save the job of Charlie Weiss? I doubt it. The Irish had their chances at the end but couldn’t pull it off. I believe Notre Dame will thank Weiss at the end of the season and then begin a search for the next candidate to push the Irish back into national signifigance.

Florida Gators Tickets – Still #1?

In the world of college football tickets who’s still #1? This is an issue I can never understand. Winning it seems is never enough. By some unfathomable formula it appears as if a college football team not only has to win it has to win by a comfortable margin. Which leads me to ask: Are Florida Gators tickets still the #1 college football tickets in the country?

I’d say so. The Gators appear strong across the board and boast what may be the most versatile quarterback of our times. yet, the dissension is certain to appear after the Gators snuck away from a game with the Arkansas Razorbacks with a mere 23-20 win. The Razorbacks, unranked, sacked Tim Tebow six times, and put an end to the idea that the Gators running game was unstoppable. It took last minute heroics by Tebow, and a last minte field goal, to put paid to Arkansas. Is that enough to keep the Gators on top of the polls? They are after all, the media darlings of 2009 college football. And winning when you’re not playing well is the mark of a champion. We’ll find out tomorrow.

World Series Tickets – New York Yankees Hungry

Maybe the difference between the 2008 New York Yankees and the 2009 New York Yankees is just hunger. Maybe not even reaching the playoffs in 2008 is what’s inspiring the 2009 Yankees. anyway, it’s hard to argue with the Yankees latest succes. Coming off a sweep of the Minnesota Twins, the Yankees are primed for Fridays matchup with the LA Angels. It’s a seven-game series in the ALCS so don’t expect this to be over with quickly. As well as the Yankees are playing, the Angels have enough weapons to win this thing outright. Indication now are that C.C. Sabathia will be asked to step up, start the first game in the series, and probably a pair of others if necessary. That’s a tall order, and one that could influence the rotation in the World Series if New York makes it.

Dodgers Tickets – Torre Redemption

Joe Torre can rest easily now, his time in baseball and his reputation secure. It seems that some folks were pointing toward Torre as the reason for the New York Yankees having missed the playoffs and the World Series in the last decade. That opinion seemed validated now that the Yankees have returned to the postseason and seem well on their way to reaching the ultimate goal. But Joes Torre wasn’t the problem with the Yankees.

That proof lies in the resurrection of the LA Dodgers under Torre. And it may not last much longer. As the Dodgers head for a showdown with the Philadelphia Phillies, Torre is speaking of retirement after fulfilling the terms of his current contract. A World Series would top off a great career. But even if it doesn’t happen, breathing life into what was a moribund franchise has earned Joe the respect he always deserved. If only from me.
