AFC Wild Card Tickets – The Better Half

Some may argue but to me it’s obvious that the AFC Wild Card slate offers a menu of stronger teams than the NFC side. You’ll find both perennial contenders and a new upstart, the kind of cast that can offer surprises and keep you interested until the final tick. With a Super Bowl berth in the offing, don’t miss a minute of this weekends games. Even better, see the action firts hand with NFL Playoff tickets.

Indianapolis Colts vs San Diego Chargers – It seems like the Chargers and Colts are always at each others throats come playoff time. This year you’ll find a Colts team that has recovered from early struggles and is now hitting it’s stride. Manning has carried this team into the playoffs and he’ll carry it past a Chargers team that is lucky to be in post season play.

Baltimore Ravens vs Miami Dolphins – Say what you want about the Baltimore Ravens defense I just don’t think they’ve got the fire. The Miami Dolphins on the other hand, have momentum and an incredible dose of magic in 2008. They are were they weren’t expected to be and like the New York Giants of last season could ride the wave to the Super Bowl. Will it happen? I don’t know but I firmly believe they’ll stay on board for one more week and top the Ravens.

NFL Wild Card Tickets – NFC Madness

We are now on the road to the Super Bowl. The remaining teams, however improbable, do have a shot at a Lombardi Trophy. Other teams, like the Dallas Cowboys, are wondering where it all went. The matchups for the NFC this weekend offer some intriguing scenarios.

Atlanta Falcons vs Arizona Cardinals – Who in their right mind would have picked the Atlanta Falcons to go 11-5 and end up in the playoffs? They are the true Phoenix of the NFC. From total disarray to Super Bowl contender in one season? Hats off to the Falcons. The Arizona Cardinals have benefited from a weak weak NFC West. But they are still in the hunt. They’ll have to capture some early season magic and cast off the malaise of late though. Can they do it? Nah. the Falcons will win big.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Minnesota Vikings – I have to say I’m hard pressed to pick this one. The Eagles drained the luck pot to get in, although they have won 4 of their last 5. The Vikings will be relying on Adrian Peterson but the key is Gus Frerrote against Donovan McNabb. It’s time for that Vikings D-Line to earn their pay so I’m going to say Minnesota in a squeaker.

Tom (Brady) Foolery – Now for Real News

Of all the NFL news coming up, with a weekend of NFL games just ahead that will determine the eventual Super Bowl contenders, we get news of Tom Brady of the New England Patriots engagement topping the headlines. Congrats but let’s get back to business.

To begin with the intrigue starts with the Miami Dolphins needing a win over the New York Jets to clinch an unlosable playoff berth. There are other scenarios in case of a loss but that won’t happen. The Fish are in by my book. The San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos are in a winner take all battle for the AFC West. Won’t go any farther but hey. The Baltimore Ravens are also in a “win and in” situation, lacking only a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The NFC also carries an excellent scenario with plenty of games detrming the fate of several teams. The Carolina Panthers are already in but must beat the New Orleans Saints to get a first round bye. The Minnesota Viking are facing a do or die game against the Giants but could sneak in if Houston tops the Chicago Bears. The Arizona Cardinals are already in for what that’s worth The way they’ve been playing it’s like the Governor temporarily postponing your execution. It’s still coming. The Atlanta Falcons should continue their amazing revival with a win over the hapless Rams. They’ll be keeping their eye on Saints-Panthers to see if they get a bye. Both the Tampa bay Buccaneers and America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys, need wins and help to get in.

That’s a good deal. No matter which NFL tickets you’re holding, the odds are good that the game will have playoff implication. Dancin Dave, where are you? You got a Rolex watch so you can blog on time.

Super Bowl Tickets – The Brett Favre Boogaloo and Other Insanity

If you’re gearing up for Super Bowl tickets and you want to know who you’re going to see in the big game……I can’t tell you. I will tell you to keep an eye on the Indianapolis Colts. Something tells me they’ve been lurking in the mud and will soon hatch out. Purely from a regular season standpoint you’d have to favor the Tennesse Titans, and it wouldn’t surprise me, but the Colts are running under everyone’s radar.

The NFC side also seems to favor the New York Giants as a clear cut frontrunner. I’m looking for the Carolina Panthers to make the big break and represent the NFC. Their power running game is going to be tough to stop and quarterback Jake Delholme is looking for a return trip. The Panthers have emerged from a tough NFC South and will be ready for anyone.

Finally, there’s Brett Favre. New York jets fans are getting a dose of Green Bay Packers syndrome, where Favre starts to talk about retirement and falters towards the end of the year. The guy is a great quarterback when fresh and has inspired the New York Jets to greater heights than I would have imagined. But does he have to talk about retirement every year and yank everyone’s chain on an annual basis? Play ba;ll or retire with grace, you’re already a Hall of Famer, don’t tarnish the great memories.

Boston Celtics – Los Angeles Lakers – War on the West Coast

Ok, what a Christmas gift. the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers meet up on Christmas day. It’s going to be a hard fought bitter battle, a way to lance the wound of words and attitudes that have marked this rivalry. In recent months the insults have flown back and forth, egged on by the bitterness of the Celtics NBA Championship and the Lakers almost annual pilgrimage into the winners circle.

Boston comes into the game riding an incredible 19-game winning streak. The Lakers are 23-5 and leading the Western Conference. Get the picture? Neither of these teams is used to losing and neither has any use for the other. Sounds like Christmas at my in-laws.

Super Bowl Hopefuls Thin Out – AFC

As always at this time of year the NFL teams with Super Bowl aspirations is beginning to thin out. All the cards aren’t on the table yet but some teams have locked themselves into the best spots.

The Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers will pretty much decide the top AFc seedings this weekend. Currently the Titans are holding the edge but it’s not a lock. Elsewhere, I find the whole Miami Dolphins-New York Jets-New England Patriots thing to be one interesting battle. This week, the Dolphins and Jets have what should be considered relatively “easy” games with Miami taking on an unlucky and struggling Kansas City Chiefs team amd the Jets matching up against a demoralized and leaderless Seattle Seahawks. New England, on the other hand, gets an Arizona Cardinals team that is still desperate to prove that they belong in the playoffs. Barring an unforeseen loss by Miami or New York, the Patriots are in a must win situation late in the season. A loss would deal a devestating blow to their playoff chances.

Never Discount the Colts

You can’t keep a good team down. The Indianapolis Colts, despite their worst start in years, have now clinched a spot in the NFL Playoffs for the umpteenth year in a row. Eight wins in a row has a tendency to do that. While Colts fans may have been dismayed by their teams slow start, Tony Dungy has proven once again that he’s got about the coolest head in the business. And the best quarterback. The Tennessee Titans may have won the AFC South, but the Indianapolis Colts are still the team to beat.

Phil Jackson and the LA Lakers – Who’s all that?

Phil Jackson is I guess. His Los Angeles Lakers team, and his Chicago Bulls, have pushed Jackson into legendary status as well as record setting achievement. Phil Jackson has now coached over 1,300 games in the NBA. He’s also got the highest winning percentage of any coach with a comparable number of games.

Despite the disrespect of Boston Celtics legend Red Auerbach, you can’t argue with the numbers. The chances of Jackson surpassing old Red are very high. The stats tell the story in an unarguable fashion. Jackson is a heck of a coach.

All this comes to a head when the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics meet head to head on Christmas. The Lakers are currently well in front in the NBA Pacific Division, while Boston has a huge lead in the Atlantic Division. The game represents what could arguably be a head to head between the two best teams in the NBA. Merry Christmas.

MLB Tickets – Yankees Outspend Again – It Ain’t All about the Benjamins

One thing about the New York Yankees, they ain’t cheap. This club religously outspends every other club in Major League Baseball and the 2009 version of the New York Yankees won’t be any exception to that rule.

Economy be damned, the Yankees hosted a dual introduction, welcoming C.C Sabathia and A. J. Burnett. Total price? Over $240 million for the pair. That’s right. A mere 1/4 of a billion dollars. The odd thing is, despite the willingness to spend, the New York Yankees haven’t won a World Series in over a decade. It ain’t all about the Benjamins.
