The San Francisco 49ers are headed to Carolina where the next generation of NFL Playoff tickets gives us the Divisional Round matchup. The 49ers will be pumped. they survived the Frozen Tundra, pulling out a 23-20 win over the Green Bay Packers with a last second field goal.
San Francisco kept the Packers in check most of the night with their defense but Aaron Rodgers and a strong running attack from Eddie Lacey helped Green Bay pull even in the 4th quarter. From there it was a classic Colin Kaepernick performance. Kaepernick escaped for a long 1st down run that set up the 49ers Phil dawson on a 33-yard field goal to ice the game.
Now the 49ers must take their offense into Carolina where a strong defense awaits. The Panthers are on a hot streak, at home, and have managed to do just enough to roar back and snatch the #2 seed in the NFC. Cam newton is playing well and poses as much problem for a defense as Kaepernick does with his running ability. The San Francisco 49ers are likely to get a dose of their own medicine in Carolina.
This NFC matchup looms large on the schedule. San Francisco is hoping to redeem a losing Super Bowl appearance. The Carolina Panthers are hoping to win their first Super Bowl on the strength of newton and a killer defense. Expect a low scoring, hard hitting battle in Carolina.
