2008 Sugar Bowl – East vs West – Maybe the Best

by on December 4, 2007 updated December 4, 2007

Down in New Orleans where the Zulu born

It takes a cool cat to blow a horn

Or something like that. The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors deserve to be blowing their horn. They’re on ther way to the Sugar Bowl where they’ll face off against an unhappy lot of Georgia Bulldogs. Hawaii earned their way to the big party in the Big Easy with a 12-0 record climaxed by a 35-28 win over Washington that saw the hula boys rally from a 21 point deficit.

Why are the Georgia Bulldogs unhappy about being in the Sugar Bowl? That’s nothing to sneeze at. Bulldogs fans have a good argument for being the hottest team in the country. No doubt they would have acquitted themselves well in the BCS National Championship game. It’s tough to overcome a bad start though. Believe me, the fans will get over their disappointment and be rarin’ to go come game time.

My opinion is that this is going to be one of the best Sugar Bowl games in awhile. The Warriors are really a sparkling new team on the scene to most college football fans. They’ve got an ungodly good quarterback who’s ready for primetime. The Bulldogs are bone tough and on a streak that has propelled them to the top in the eyes of many around the country. Two different styles clash on the same field. Both teams with something to prove. Does it get any better?
